I've been using blogger for a while now, it's a pretty good tool for personal and professional use, the opportunities for collaboration are vast; at it's simplest you can share a web-front for people of similar interests to publish news and content of that interest, at it's most extreme you can use it for professional discourse allowing each member to edit content.
All in all it's come a long way from livejournal.
